US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee reveals battle with pancreatic cancer

AUSTIN: United States (US) Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee from Texas disclosed her fight against pancreatic cancer and her ongoing treatment on Monday.
The Congress member is seeking her 16th term. She said she was determined to confront the “personal challenge” with “faith and courage”. The representative firmly stated her confidence in her doctors’ treatment plan.

Sheila Jackson Lee said that while her treatment may occasionally necessitate her absence from Congress, her office remained “dedicated” to serving her constituents. The representative very directly said she would continue working with other Congress members.
The representative has been in office since 1995. Her district consists of downtown Houston and several historically black US citizens areas.

The Congresswoman called for going for medical checkups regularly as early detection and access to quality healthcare is important. Pancreatic cancer is known for its aggressive nature and low survival rates.
