Afghanistan hit by second earthquake in days

The Afghan authorities said that they are trying to estimate the damage caused by the earthquake.

This disaster strikes after over 2,000 people were killed and nearly 1,000 injured in an earthquake of 6.2 magnitude in western Afghanistan on October 7. Days after, on Wednesday, another powerful earthquake struck Herat Province in Afghanistan near the border with Iran.

More than 90 percent of those who died in the earlier quakes were women and children, the UN’s children agency UNICEF said.
