Florida police had an unexpected encounter on a major highway when they pulled over a vehicle, only to discover that the driver was a 10-year-old boy.

This surprising incident took place in Alachua, which was hundreds of miles away from where the youngsters had been reported missing by their mother earlier that week.

The children involved were the 10-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister, who had embarked on this daring escapade after their mother confiscated their electronic devices due to what she perceived as their inappropriate use of them.

The Alachua County Sheriff’s office emphasized that this traffic stop was particularly high-risk and occurred late at night, at 03:50 local time (07:50 GMT) on a Thursday.

The vehicle they were driving, a white sedan, had been reported missing by their mother in North Port, Florida, a city situated over 200 miles (320km) from Alachua. Authorities determined that there was no evidence of mistreatment of the children at home.

In response to the situation, the children’s mother made a three-hour journey to Alachua to retrieve her youngsters. The authorities engaged in a thorough conversation with her, during which she demonstrated a clear commitment to raising her two young children.

She also welcomed the recommendations provided to her by the police to seek assistance. For context, it’s worth noting that in Florida, the legal age to obtain a learner’s permit is 15, and individuals must be 18 years old to apply for a full driver’s license.
