TEL AVIV: At least four people were killed and 20 others injured early Saturday after a direct missile attack from Iran struck residential buildings in Rishon Lezion, a city in central Israel, according to Hebrew media reports.
The Israeli army says fresh missile attacks were carried out by Iran earlier today. Loud explosions were heard in Tel Aviv.
Magen David Adom (MDA), the national emergency service, confirmed that one person died on the spot. Another succumbed to injuries later.
Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition, while others sustained minor wounds. Victims were shifted to Shamir Medical Centre and Wolfson Medical Centre for treatment.
The missile reportedly struck without triggering warning sirens, catching residents off guard.
Israeli strikes back Iran’s leadership into a corner
Emergency teams are working to rescue at least two people trapped under debris in the affected building.
Photos published this morning on Israeli media revealed the extent of the destruction caused in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, after overnight Iranian missile strikes.

In response, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) instructed citizens to move to secure shelters once again, warning of continued threats.
This strike comes amid a fresh wave of ballistic missile launches from Iran, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Air defences are currently active, and sirens are expected to sound soon. Authorities have directed civilians to stay in bomb shelters until further notice.
The military also claimed it successfully intercepted several missiles launched from Iran.
Separately, the Israeli Air Force confirmed it had intercepted three drones launched from Yemen around an hour before the missile strike.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowing to retaliate, had said Israel had initiated a war and would suffer “a bitter fate”.
