Chinese National Day sets records with 10,000 drones

SHENZHEN: The Chinese celebrated their country’s National Day in the city of Shenzhen with a spectacular display of drones, and in the process, setting two world records.
The drone show utilised a whopping 10,197 drones to create complex intricate patterns and cultural landmarks, at the Shenzhen Bay Park. It set two new Guinness World Records for the largest number of drones flying at the same time, and the largest aerial image made by drones.

The show featured Shenzhen’s architectural and other heritage monuments. The week-long event will continue across Shenzhen’s five districts, with more than 10,000 drones lighting up the night sky each evening.
Chinese National Day celebrated across the country
Meanwhile, the popularity of the video game “Black Myth: Wukong” led to a spike in the cultural tours focused on ancient Chinese architecture in the Shanxi province. The region is home to over 28,000 ancient structures and thanks to the video game, it has seen a huge tourist boom.
According to Chinese media, museums and study tours were among the top five most popular search topics for National Day holiday travel, with study tour bookings surging and museums extending their opening hours.

The holiday has also saw a football match between teams from China’s Chongqing and Malaysia, held in Rongjiang county in Guizhou province.
As per Chinese media, cross-border tourism also thrived during the holiday, with online travel platforms reporting huge growth in air ticket and hotel bookings.
