WEB DESK: Taliban interim government’s foreign ministry, on X , released a late night statement on Sunday requesting Pakistan to open the Torkham border crossing, stressing their adherence to dialogue.
Earlier, tensions escalated at the Torkham border when Afghan forces attempted to establish a check post in a prohibited area adjacent to the border – an action that was halted by the Pakistani military following which Afghan forces initiated fire using small arms.
The attack was thwarted by Pakistani security forces but the border crossing was shut down for an indefinite period on Wednesday.
No reported casualties were reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, following the recent border closure, reports have emerged of intrusions by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Afghan territory, prompting swift action by the Pakistani military to suppress these incursions. The foreign and interior ministers of Pakistan have issued stern statements, urging Afghanistan to uphold the Doha agreement and prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan.
According to Caretaker Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Jalil Abbas Jillani, Pakistan has handed over a demarche to the Afghan Chargé d’affaires on the Chitral attack saying it is the responsibility of the Taliban government to stop these attacks.
“We expect that the Afghan government would take necessary steps to curb elements that are against Pakistan. We are engaged with the Afghan government. Our ambassador is there to address the issues with them. We demand the Afghan government to make sure that such incidents do not happen in the future,” the minister added
