WEB DESK: The forthcoming iPhone 16 series is generating considerable excitement, and for good reason. Each of the four new models will incorporate advanced Apple Intelligence features, including an enhanced Siri and new AI-driven writing tools.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to attract significant attention with their larger displays—6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. These models are also likely to feature an upgraded main camera sensor and a more powerful 48MP ultrawide camera.

Additionally, all four models will benefit from the faster A18 chip and a new Capture button for easier photo and video capture. The Pros may also include Wi-Fi 7, providing enhanced future-proofing.

Despite many eagerly anticipating the iPhone 16, some are planning to skip it in favour of the next iPhone 17, which promises to be a more substantial upgrade. The iPhone 17 Slim, in particular, is generating excitement as a potential major redesign.

Renowned sources, including Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, suggest that Apple may phase out the iPhone Plus in 2025, introducing instead the iPhone 17 Slim (or possibly the iPhone 17 Air).

This model is anticipated to be the thinnest iPhone ever, featuring a 6.6-inch display and the latest A19 processor, all within a significantly slimmer design. It might also be among the first to incorporate Apple’s new 5G modem.

The iPhone 17 Slim/Air is expected to measure just 5mm thick, a noticeable reduction from the current iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 8.2mm.

For those who frequently use the iPhone 15 Pro Max, like myself, the lighter titanium design is appreciated, though it can still be cumbersome at times. The prospect of a slimmer, lighter device is appealing, particularly for those who miss the excitement of showcasing innovative design.

While it may not rival the dramatic swivelling phones of the past, such as the LG VX9400 from 2007, or the latest foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the iPhone 17 Slim/Air promises a refreshing change in Apple’s design approach, which has been relatively stagnant in recent years.
