T20 World Cup: England crushes Oman with 8-wicket victory

SAINT GEORGE: In what has become the shortest match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, England crushed Oman with an eight-wicket victory on Friday.
The audience at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Saint George, Antigua and Barbuda, witnessed a formidable English team unleashing their frustration at their low position on the points table.

And Oman undoubtedly felt the full force of the thrashing.
England won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that proved advantageous. Oman’s batting lineup struggled significantly, failing to even reach the half-century mark for the entire team.
Oman was dismissed entirely by the 13th over, managing only 47 runs.
Shoaib Khan emerged as the top scorer for Oman with just 11 runs, narrowly reaching double digits. His innings came at a significant cost, with 23 runs lost.
Similarly, Kashyap Prajapati managed to score 9 runs but consumed 16 balls, while Aqib Ilyas contributed a mere 8 runs to the total.
English bowler Adil Rashid show exceptional skill, claiming four wickets while conceding just eleven runs in his four overs. Jofra Archer also made an impact, securing three wickets while giving away 12 runs in 3.2 overs.
Meanwhile, Mark Wood also left his mark on the game by taking three wickets in as many overs, achieving a remarkable feat of 3 for 3.
Despite the challenge, Oman’s bowlers displayed resilience, with Kaleemullah and Bilal Khan each claiming a solitary wicket. However, Kaleemullah faced adversity by conceding ten runs in a single over, while Bilal Khan struggled, giving away a whopping 36 runs to the English batters in just two overs.
Captain Jos Buttler remained unbeaten with 24 runs off 8 balls, securing a considerable margin. Phil Salt contributed 12 runs off just three balls before being dismissed.

In addition, Jonny Bairstow was not-out, scoring 8 runs off just two balls.
