WEB DESK: Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has made history in Sharjah, becoming the highest wicket-taker in men’s T20 internationals during his team’s convincing 38-run win over the UAE in the ongoing tri-nation series. His three-wicket haul not only played a key role in the victory but also took his tally to 165 wickets in just 98 matches, surpassing New Zealand’s Tim Southee, who has 164 wickets in 126 games.

Rashid’s career economy rate of 6.07 and average of 13.75 make him one of the most effective bowlers in the format. The 26-year-old also holds the record for the most T20 wickets overall across leagues and international matches, with 664 wickets in 489 games. Considering his form and age, this new milestone may stand unchallenged for years.

The captain took to his X formally Twitter to offer condolences and support to all his fellows back home in Afghanistan following a devastating earthquake between the night of Sunday and Monday, claiming more than 1300 lives and leaving thousands injured. He also shared a GoFundMe link, requesting people to donate and assist the victims. He has raised more than €40,000 for all those who are reeling from the calamity.
