LAHORE: The salaries of multiple champions cup mentors are reportedly being withheld by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sources claimed on Tuesday.
The services of four mentors including Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq, have been discontinued according to sources.
Payments to the aforementioned four are reportedly being held in an attempt to prompt their resignations rather than serve termination notices. The later would result in the PCB being forced to pay fourth months’ worth of salary.
Sources stated that PCB used the same tactic with Shoaib Malik, who resigned last month citing the difficulty in “juggling multiple responsibilities.” The PCB is reportedly taking this approach to limit financial liabilities.
While Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq are reportedly waiting for dismissal notices, Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed are likely to receive new roles within the board.
