AHMEDABAD: Indian authorities have heightened security preparations and remain on high alert due to a terrorism threat associated with Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium.

According to international media, security measures have been reinforced, with over 3,000 police personnel deployed both within and around the venue. This stadium is slated to host a series of five matches, including the opening match, the highly anticipated Pakistan-India clash, and the tournament’s final.

In accordance with these stringent security protocols, spectators will be restricted from carrying any items into the stadium except for their mobile phones, as per media sources.

Additionally, access to the road leading to the stadium will be restricted during match times, a measure designed to minimise security risks.

The mega event is set to commence this Thursday, with the opening match featuring England against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi stadium.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India, featuring ten teams competing for the coveted title across ten different venues, spanning from October 5 to November 19. The tournament will employ a round-robin format, with each team facing off against all others in a total of 45 league matches.

In the event of teams having an equal number of points following the round-robin stage, the total number of wins will serve as the primary tiebreaker, with net run rate being the subsequent determining factor.

The top four teams emerging from this stage will advance to the semifinals, set to be held in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Reserve days are allocated for both the semifinals and the final.
