ABU DHABI: Bangladesh skipper Litton Das led from the front with a commanding 59 off 39 balls, powering his team to a confident victory over Hong Kong in their Asia Cup 2025 clash here tonight.

This marked Bangladesh’s first-ever Asia Cup match against Hong Kong, and they chased down the modest 143-run target with the loss of just two wickets.

Bangladesh batting-line

Bangladesh opened their innings with Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan, both of whom provided a solid start. Parvez scored 19 off 14, while Tanzid added 14 off 18, setting the tone before falling to Ayush Shukla and Ateeq Iqbal, respectively.

Captain Litton Das then took charge, anchoring the chase with an aggressive yet composed 59-run knock that featured multiple boundaries and confident stroke play. He was well-supported by Towhid Hridoy, who remained unbeaten on 35 off 36 balls, ensuring there were no further hiccups in the chase.

Jaker Ali joined Hridoy after Das’s dismissal, but by then, the result was nearly sealed that was helped further by 17 extras conceded by Hong Kong’s bowlers, which accelerated Bangladesh’s path to victory.

Hong Kong struggle again

Zeeshan Ali was the top scorer with 30 off 34 balls, though his strike rate of 88.23 slowed the early innings. Captain Yasim Murtaza provided a much-needed boost with a brisk 28 off 19, while Nizakat Khan played a steady anchor role with 42 off 40 balls before being bowled by Rishad Hossain.

Babar Hayat chipped in with 14 off 12, but Hong Kong’s middle and lower order faltered. Kinchit Shah fell for a golden duck, and others failed to reach double figures. The team ended their innings at 143-7, a total that ultimately proved insufficient.
