Shehbaz and Raja Riaz meet tomorrow to discuss caretaker PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz on Wednesday to discuss the names of the caretaker prime minister.

“Prior to this, no name for the caretaker prime minister from the premier was given nor was there any consultation,” said Raja Riaz while talking about the meeting.

He further said that he will give names to the Prime Minister of suitable candidates for this significant position.

If consensus is reached during this meeting, the announcement of the caretaker prime minister will be made accordingly.

However, in case a consensus remains elusive, the proposed names will be submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for consideration and selection.

If the National Assembly completes its tenure, the Election Commission of Pakistan will be obligated to hold polls within the next 60 days.

As per the law, the prime minister and the opposition leader are required to engage in consultations for the formation of a caretaker setup.
