Chairman PTI Gohar Ali Khan terms notification of Marwat’s expulsion as ‘fake’

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar Ali Khan terming Sher Afzal Marwat as a “loyal” said that the notification of Sher Afzal Marwat’s expulsion from the party is ‘fake’.

Earlier a notification issued by PTI’s Additional General Secretary Firdous Shamim Naqvi went viral on social media mentioning that Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership has been cancelled for gross violation/breach of discipline.

Talking to media Barrister Gohar said, “ I am the party’s chairman if there was something like this I would have known”.

Barrister Gohar Ali said that he did not know who had issued instructions and who was taking decisions like Marwat’s expulsion from the party.

“It had not been brought to my knowledge that founder PTI had issued such instructions. I will meet the founder of PTI and will put the whole situation before Imran Khan,” Gohar added.

He said the membership of Sher Afzal Marwat was terminated without any committee who would call him for a response.

“I will meet Imran Khan today and reverse this notification, Sher Afzal Marwat was a member of our party and was loyal to Imran Khan,” Gohar said.

It is noteworthy that in the notification PTI had terminated Sher Afzal Marwat’s basic party membership and demanded his resignation from the National Assembly.

The notification of the termination was also shared from PTI’s official account. The core committee members also confirmed the cancellation of Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership.

According to the core committee members, the decision to expel Sher Afzal Marwat was made during a core committee meeting.

Meanwhile, Sher Afzal Marwat, former senior vice president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has responded following the termination of his basic party membership. He shared his stance on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In his post, Sher Afzal Marwat stated, “I respect the party’s decision, but let me make one thing clear: I was, am, and will remain a soldier of Khan. I will do everything I can in my capacity to work towards my leader’s release.”

He further wrote, “My leader’s ears have been poisoned against me, and misunderstandings have been created. I will try to meet the leader and present my position to him. I will try to convince him, and if he remains unconvinced, I will return the seat, as it is a trust.”
