ISLAMABAD: A suicide bomber targeted a military convoy in the Jani Khel area of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which resulted in the martyr of nine soldiers and injuries to five others, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said late on Thursday.

“A suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated explosives on a military convoy,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan military’s media wing.

As a result of the suicide attack, nine soldiers, including Naib Subedar Sanobar Ali, were martyred and five others sustained injuries,” the ISPR said.

The incident led to a swift response from security forces, who cordoned off the area and initiated measures to contain the situation, the ISPR said.

“The security forces have taken control of the area, ensuring the safety of civilians and conducting a thorough search operation as part of their efforts to maintain law and order in the region,” the ISPR said.

“The resolute efforts of security forces stand as a testament to their determination in eradicating the scourge of terrorism from the country,” it said.

In response to the terrorist incident, Caretaker Prime Minister AnwaarulHaq Kakar expressed his profound sadness over the tragic loss of nine courageous soldiers due to a reprehensible terrorist act that also caused multiple injuries.

“Such actions are despicable and cowardly. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who have lost their lives or been injured. Pakistan stands unwavering in its stance against such acts of terror,” the interim premier said.
