Shehbaz Sharif condemns Israeli brutalities against Palestinians

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) President Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on innocent Palestinian civilians, including children.

In a statement, Shehbaz expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of more than 2,000 lives, including numerous children, in the Israeli attacks.

“The Zionist state has violated all international laws and norms, as well as the fundamental principles of humanity,” he said emphasizing the urgent need to protect and defend the legal rights and security of the Palestinian people for a life free from oppression, or else the world risks turning into a pile of ashes.

“For decades, an occupying army has subjected Palestinians to the worst atrocities. If the US Security Council had enforced its resolutions, today’s situation would not have arisen. The Zionist state has been engaged in the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians for decades,” he said.

“The United Nations Security Council must ensure the implementation of its resolutions to halt the bloodshed of innocent civilians,” Sharif said.

He said that emptying hospitals and targeting journalists is equivalent to endorsing mass murder.

“The world must not be a spectator to oppression, and practical steps must be taken to stop the mass killing of innocent humans.”

He urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to initiate immediate provision of water, food, and medicines for Palestinians.

“All Islamic countries should participate in relief efforts through the OIC platform. Urgent measures should be taken for the provision of shelter for homeless Palestinians,” he said.

Immediate actions should be taken to provide food and medical facilities for women, children, and the vulnerable, he said.

“Targeting hospitals, schools, and civilian populations is not war, and it is open cruelty and barbarism,” the PML-N president said.

“The current situation is a test for the Islamic world. Support for the Palestinians will continue unless the establishment of a free Palestinian state with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital,” he said.

Earlier, in a tweet, he said: “We strongly condemn Israel’s brutality against Palestinians. Bombing of civilians, kids & hospitals must stop immediately. The world must take action to implement UN resolutions & stop this ongoing genocide. We appeal to the OIC nations to provide food and medicines to Palestinians urgently. We all support an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.”
