KARACHI: Fire which erupted, in the wee hours of Tuesday at the Saddar Shah Jahan mobile market, was finally extinguished after struggle of five hours.

There was chaos as the fire quickly spread through the market, affecting many shops and creating difficulties for the authorities. Ten fire trucks, led by the Chief Fire Officer, worked strategically to control the flames and bring the situation under control.

The Chief Fire Officer explained that the fire started due to a short circuit, causing it to rapidly spread through the market. Despite challenges like thick smoke and tight spaces, the firefighting team’s efforts were successful.

Fire erupts in Saddar Karachi’s mobile market

During a briefing, the Chief Fire Officer revealed that water from the Karachi Water Board and the Fire Headquarters was used to tackle the blaze.

The joint effort aimed to stop the fire that had affected more than 100 shops in the market.

Rizwan Irfan, President of the Saddar Electronics Dealers Association, highlighted the severity of the situation, expressing sorrow over the extensive damage.

More than 100 shops were ruined, causing a significant financial loss for the traders and impacting the local business community.

As the cooling process continues and the aftermath is evaluated, the Karachi Saddar Mobile Market fire serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by emergency services and the resilience needed to overcome such incidents.
