Reshuffle in lower judiciary: LHC announces transfers, postings

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice on Tuesday made transfer and posting among 53 judges of lower courts, in multiple cities of Punjab including Lahore. The Registrar’s Office in Lahore issued a notification detailing the transfers and postings.

Among the notable changes, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Justice Ijaz Ahmad Butar, renowned for presiding over cases related to the May 9 tragedy and Justice Bakht Fakhr Behzad, who oversaw cases involving Parvez Elahi and Monis Elahi, have been transferred. Both judges have been directed to report to the Lahore High Court as per the official notice.

LHC Registrar Irfan Ahmed Saeed has also been transferred to Multan, while Sheikh Khalid Bashir has been appointed as the new LHC Registrar.

Additionally, Sessions Judge Lahore Tanveer Akbar has been transferred, and Qaiser Nazir Butt has been appointed in his place, the notification said.
