Punjab Police thwart terrorist attack on Mianwali checkpoint

Police in Punjab have successfully thwarted a terrorist assault by a gang of 12 to 13 militants on the Qabul Khan checkpoint in Mianwali during the early hours of Monday morning.

Armed with advanced weaponry, the attackers launched an onslaught on the border post, aiming to breach security measures and cause chaos in the area.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police revealed that the militants engaged in heavy gunfire using state-of-the-art firearms. However, swift and strategic action by law enforcement officers, supported by cutting-edge technology, effectively halted the assault.

“The officers on duty employed strategic measures and modern technology to thwart the attack,” the spokesperson stated, highlighting the proactive stance taken by authorities in countering the imminent threat.

Following a fierce exchange of fire, the militants managed to evade capture, fleeing the scene amidst the chaos. The spokesperson confirmed that a thorough search operation was underway, led by the district police officer of Mianwali.

“The terrorists managed to escape due to the intense firing by police personnel,” the spokesperson noted, underscoring the unwavering determination of law enforcement agencies to safeguard the region from terrorist activities.

Recognising the bravery and dedication of the personnel stationed at border checkpoints, the inspector general of Punjab Police emphasised their pivotal role as frontline defenders in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

“The officers at border checkpoints are the first line of defence against terrorism,” the IGP remarked, commending the courage and commitment demonstrated by the officers in upholding the nation’s borders and ensuring the safety of its populace.
