LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a directive to enforce restrictions on marriage ceremonies throughout the province, including the capital city, Lahore. The move comes in response to concerns about extravagant and time-consuming events, in violation of the government’s directives.

The regulations, already in place but not being properly followed, are aimed at curbing excessive expenditures and working hours during wedding celebrations. The primary restrictions include the implementation of a one-dish policy and a strict 10 p.m. working hours limit.

Instructions have been communicated to Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across Punjab to ensure the effective enforcement of these measures. Wedding organisers and hosts are required to adhere to the one-dish policy, both in traditional halls and in farmhouses, according to the directives.

The Chief Minister emphasised that these measures are aimed at promoting simplicity and ensuring that the working hours of these events do not disrupt the daily routines of guests and participants. Any violations of these restrictions will result in prompt and indiscriminate action taken by the authorities.
