KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a significant increase in heat intensity in Karachi starting Sunday, with heatwave-like conditions expected between April 20 and 23.
The rise in temperature is due to a shift in wind direction, according to the Met Office. The heatwave may return to other parts of Sindh from April 24 onwards.
For the next 24 hours, Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid. The temperature may hover between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum was recorded at 26.5°C. With humidity at 77%, residents are likely to feel uncomfortable.
Fresh alert issued for heavy rains, hailstorm in Islamabad
Moderate sea breezes at 12 km/h are expected to continue, with occasional strong winds.
The PMD cautioned that excessive heat may trigger dust and windstorms, posing risks to infrastructure like power lines, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.
