PM Shehbaz Sharif approves amendment to management pay scale policy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the green light to amend the Management Pay Scale Policy 2020, introducing changes to the experience requirements for various scales.

The revised policy shortens the experience period requirements for the MP1, MP2, and MP3 scales, which correspond to Grades 22, 21, and 20, respectively.

For the MP1 scale, individuals with a PhD degree now need a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, while those with a Master’s degree must have at least nine years of experience.

For the MP2 scale, the new requirements are a minimum of five years for PhD holders and seven years for those with a Master’s degree.

The MP3 scale now requires a minimum of three years of experience for PhD holders and five years for Master’s degree holders.

These changes mark a significant reduction from the previous requirements. The former policy stipulated a minimum of 14 years of experience for PhD holders and 18 years for Master’s degree holders for the MP1 scale.

For the MP2 scale, PhD holders needed at least 10 years of experience, and Master’s degree holders required 14 years. The MP3 scale previously required a minimum of six years of experience for PhD holders and 10 years for those with a Master’s degree.

The Establishment Division has circulated a copy of the amendment to all ministries and divisions to inform them of the updated policy.
