PM directs for enhanced security for Chinese nationals

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to enhance the security measures for Chinese citizens.

A crucial meeting, headed by prime minister, on security matters took place in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Asim Munir, heads of intelligence agencies, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The meeting encompassed discussions on the security of Chinese nationals residing and working in Pakistan, along with conducting security audits.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif on the recent Basham incident.

Sources indicate that a comprehensive report was presented to the Prime Minister by security agencies’ heads, prompting him to instruct the implementation of foolproof security measures for all Chinese residents across the nation.

The meeting has been convened at a time when incidents of terrorism are occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan almost daily.

Only yesterday, five Chinese workers along with their driver were killed when a suicide bomber targeted their vehicle in Shangla district of KP.
