PHC seeks response from govt on blocking ‘X’

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) issuing notices to the federal government, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other concerned departments on blocking ‘X’ has sought a reply in the next hearing.

A two-member bench consisting of Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmed heard the case on Thursday.

The court asked from the applicant that why X is closed when all other social media platforms are opened.

Applicant’s lawyer that ‘X’ was blocked but the reason was not told that why it happened and stopped the people from gaining information.

Justice Waqar Ahmed inquired why was ‘X’ blocked when the Sindh High court (SHC) issued an order regarding that matter now what do you want.

PTA chairman to take up X’s closure with interior ministryApplicant’s lawyer replied that SHC’s order is within the limit of province. PHC should also issue an order in this regard.

Justice Waqar said that this was done by federal government and the SHC’s order is applicable over the entire country.

However, court sought response from the government and concerned officials in this matter.
