PFA culls 2,000 diseased chickens in Rawalpindi crackdown

RAWALPINDI: In a targeted operation conducted by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in the Bagh Sardaran area, 2,000 underweight and diseased chickens were culled to prevent them from entering the market, the PFA confirmed on Friday.

According to the authority’s spokesperson, a total of 25,000 kilograms of chicken were inspected at various markets across Rawalpindi to ensure that only healthy and safe poultry reaches consumers.

One supplier found guilty of providing underweight chickens was fined Rs50,000 for violating food safety standards.

Punjab’s Minister for Food has issued strict instructions to the PFA’s Meat Safety teams, urging them to conduct thorough checks and enforce stringent measures to protect public health.

The PFA remains committed to safeguarding food quality and ensuring the safety of consumers.
