New polio case reported in Sindh

KARACHI: A new case of polio has been confirmed in Sindh, marking the 24th instance of the disease reported in the country this year.

The latest case emerged from Hyderabad, where a two-and-a-half-year-old child tested positive for the polio virus.

According to sources from the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), this is the second polio case identified in Hyderabad this year.

Reports indicate that a total of five children  in Sindh have been affected by the ongoing polio outbreak.

In addition to the cases in Sindh, the national tally includes 15 cases from Balochistan, two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
