Mastermind of May 9 events will also be investigated, says Sanaullah

LAHORE: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Friday said that the mastermind behind the May 9 events will also be included in the investigation. 

He added that the relevant authorities are conducting investigations regarding the arrest of the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Rana Sanaullah said that the individuals involved in the events of May 9 cannot be released simply because they are contesting elections.

“We will not form an electoral alliance with anyone,” said the interior minister.

He further mentioned that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is planning to initiate regular electoral activities in Punjab. During the general elections, the lion symbol will be present in every constituency of Punjab.

Rana Sanaullah affirmed that the PML-N will move forward with full force in the electoral process in Punjab. They will field their candidates in all provincial and national assembly constituencies.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the nation on Thursday, announced that the incumbent government would hand over its responsibilities to a caretaker setup in August 2023, fulfilling its commitment made in April 2022.
