ISLAMABAD: In a bid to pay tribute to world record holder and javelin throw athlete Arshad Nadeem, who brought immense pride to Pakistan with his historic achievements, a busy road in Islamabad (Margalla Road) is being renamed after him.
It has been learnt that a major road in Islamabad’s F-10 sector (From F-10 roundabout to Khayaban-e-Iqbal) also known as Margalla road will be renamed in honor of Arshad Nadeem – the Olympic hero on the directives of the Prime Minister.
This gesture serves not only as a tribute to Nadeem’s remarkable contributions to the nation’s sporting legacy but also as an inspiration for future generations to pursue excellence in athletics.
The renaming of the road is a symbolic recognition of Nadeem’s dedication and success, forever linking his name with the capital city.

Furthermore, a high-performance academy will be established at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, dedicated to Nadeem, to support and nurture future athletes.
Nadeem’s victory is a monumental achievement for Pakistan, marking the country’s first individual gold medal in track and field and only the second time a South Asian athlete has claimed a podium finish in this category.
Expressing his joy, Nadeem said, “I’m thrilled that God blessed me with the gold medal, and we will celebrate August 14th with this achievement. It’s heartwarming to return to Pakistan and receive such immense love.”
