Main suspect of Amjad Sabri’s murder arrested

KARACHI:A dangerous terrorist belonging to banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and mastermind of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri’s murder was arrested by Counter Terrorism Department in a major operation in Karachi on Tuesday.

The CTD arrested the terrorist from the Patel Para area of Karachi .

According to the CTD, the apprehended individual, identified as Qasim Rasheed, was taken into custody based on a tip-off. Rasheed is believed to have been involved in the killing of Qawal Amjad Sabri, with the assistance of two accomplices named Asim and Ishaq.

Authorities reported that the arrested terrorist has confessed to the murder of four Rangers personnel and also admitted to the killing of two army personnel near President Parking Plaza.

During the course of the investigation, the accused acknowledged his involvement in various other incidents including the murder of Amjad Sabri.

Eight terrorists killed in CTD operations

The CTD further disclosed that they recovered hand grenades, pistols, and explosives from the arrested terrorist, who had previously been incarcerated. Authorities have also revealed that the arrested terrorist had been running a network from within the jail.

He sent Asim Kapri and Ishaq Bobby who had murdered Qawwal Amjad Sabri and four Rangers personnel.

The CTD official said the accused was in prison in connection with a number of cases relating to terrorism and other serious crimes.

Qasim Rasheed was freed from jail recently, the CTD incharge said.

The accused has also confessed to killing of Assistant Superintendent Jail Pir Masood Ahmad and others, the CTD officer added.

It is important to note that on June 22, 2016 (Ramadan 16), Qawal Amjad Sabri was fatally shot by unidentified assailants at around 4:00 am, leading to his unfortunate demise.
