ISLAMABAD: In a significant development in the highly publicised maid torture case, the victimised girl identified as Rizwana, has come forward to provide her statement to the Islamabad police.
Rizwana detailed the shocking and distressing experiences she endured while working as a domestic servant for the wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez.
Sources close to the investigation shared that the victim recounted instances of severe physical abuse, alleging that Somia Asim, the judge’s wife, subjected her to daily torment.
Rizwana revealed that she had endured beatings with sticks, iron bars, and various other objects. She further disclosed being confined to a room for prolonged periods and subjected to hunger for several days.
The victim also described how she was frequently locked inside the house whenever the family members were away. Rizwana asserted that her ability to meet her parents was severely restricted, and even her phone conversations were monitored by Somia.
Allegedly coerced into silence, Rizwana claimed that the judge’s wife warned her against revealing the violence and threats to her family.
Meanwhile, the civil judge himself has yet to appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in connection with the case. Sources confirmed that the implicated judge has been designated an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and subsequently transferred to Rawalpindi.
