LG by-polls schedule notified

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the schedule for local government (LG) by-polls in four districts of Sindh, which include Karachi, Khairpur, and Hyderabad.

Scheduled for November 5, the LG by-polls will take place in Karachi East, Karachi West, Khairpur, and Hyderabad districts, encompassing four union council (UC) seats. Nominations for these by-polls will be accepted until October 10, according to an ECP spokesperson.

Last month, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had announced the timetable for Sindh Local Government (LG) by-polls for UC chairmen and vice chairmen positions.

On November 5, the by-polls will be conducted to elect nine Union Council (UC) chairmen and 16 vice chairmen throughout Sindh.

A total of 74 general seats across the province will be contested in these by-polls, with the deadline for nominations set for October 7.

Moreover, the commission also unveiled schedule for LG polls on 812 reserved seats in 29 districts. The last date for the submission of the nominations will be October 7 and the polling will be held on October 20.
