Karachi residents enjoy season’s first winter rain

KARACHI: Karachi witnessed its first winter rain, bringing a chill to the city and prompting the citizens to take out their woollies and rush to samosa Pakora shops to enjoy the weather.

Early morning drizzle was reported in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Baldia Town, Orangi Town, North Nazimabad, and Numaish Chowrangi.

Light winter rain also fell in Karachi areas such as Federal B Area, MA Jinnah Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road, Scheme 33, and Surjani, adding to the weekend’s charm.

Are the winter holidays in schools being extended?

The intensity of cold is expected to increase further across Karachi and Sindh from tonight and nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to a single digit of 4-7°C, according to the Met Department. .

 On Sunday and Monday, Karachi’s minimum temperature is likely to hit 6°C, accompanied by chilly, dry winds. Similar cold and dry conditions are forecast for other parts of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Quetta and its neighboring regions experienced the first snowfall of the season. Snow covered areas like Khanozai, Kan Mehtarzai, Ziarat, and several other districts.

Northern Balochistan also saw intermittent rain, adding to the wintry conditions in the region.
