ISLAMABAD: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) handling the Toshakhana case, involving the PTI Chairman and his wife Bushra Bibi, has decided to send two audio recordings for a forensic test.

The capital police’s JIT is currently probing the Toshakhana case, and during a recent appearance before the team, two audio recordings were played for Bushra Bibi. Bushra Bibi firmly denied that the voice in the recordings belongs to her, suggesting that it has been manipulated.

Both audio recordings had previously circulated widely on social media. In one of the recordings, the former first lady is purportedly heard admonishing someone for taking photos of items sent from Toshakhana to Banigala. The second audio involves a conversation with former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari concerning a watch that is at the center of the Toshakhana controversy.

On August 15, Bushra Bibi appeared before the JIT and answered 20 questions during the 20-minute session. The JIT’s decision to subject the audio to a forensic test will ascertain the authenticity of the voices heard in the recordings.
