Italian tourist allegedly commits suicide in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: An Italian tourist allegedly committed suicide in the Murad Abad area of Peshawar on Monday. 

According to police, the Italian national, identified as Shova Moses Vargas, was found dead in his apartment in the Murad Abad area. Police have gathered evidence from the scene and have launched an investigation into the cause of death.

Vargas had been issued a tourist visa on October 9, 2023, and had entered Peshawar from Bacha Khan International Airport on October 18. Police said Vargas was temporarily residing in an apartment in a private society.

The exact cause of death is still unknown, but police are investigating the possibility of suicide.

Suicide letter

Police have discovered a suicide note in the deceased’s room. According to the letter found, the tourist mentioned that he had already sent all of his money to his sister in the United States. With Rs1,79,500 remaining, he requested that this amount be utilized for the transportation of his body. Additionally, he expressed his wish for Osman Khan to retain possession of his personal mobile phone, glasses, and other belongings.

The letter also conveyed that the deceased was leading a content life and that his actions were of his own volition. He clarified that he was not dependent on drugs or any other substances, and the only medication he took was for sleep
