LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that Nawaz Sharif now faces no legal hurdles to return to Pakistan as legal experts have given him the green light for homeconing.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Shehbaz said that Nawaz Sharif is set to arrive in Pakistan on October 21. He said that Nawaz Sharif will unveil his economic plan on October 21.
He said that it shouldn’t be a recurring question whether Nawaz Sharif is returning or not.
He said that during our 16-month tenure, “we faced challenges such as floods and sit-ins. The events of May 9 were a revolt against Pakistan and its armed forces.”
“When we negotiated with the IMF, there was resistance, but it was not convenient for us to push the state into financial hardship to save our political careers. We made sacrifices to save the state. I have always tried to rectify my misstatements,” Shehbaz said.
“The IMF agreement resulted in improvements in the production sector. If Pakistan had defaulted, unemployment would have increased, and unrest would have prevailed. I would have resigned in two minutes if it was not meant to save the state,” he said.

“It was claimed that all politicians would be held accountable named in the Panama case, but in 2017, instead Nawaz Sharif was embroiled in the Avenfield case. The Panama list included over 400 Pakistanis, including politicians, but Nawaz Sharif was specifically targeted,” the former premier said.
“Our foreign policy was damaged through arrogance. In the past, a visit by the Chinese president was canceled due to protests in Pakistan. Removing Nawaz Sharif from power halted Pakistan’s progress. I know what Nawaz Sharif did for CPEC. Removing Nawaz Sharif stopped Pakistan’s 6% economic growth. It’s a tragedy, and history bears witness that we keep going in circles, he said.
“I told then-army chief Raheel Sharif that he should play his part; Nawaz Sharif went to the US, saved Pakistan, and sacrificed his government.”
