LAHORE: Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and his focal person on legal affairs, has been transferred to a military court for trial, according to a police report submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday.
According to the report, Hassaan will undergo investigation and trial by the military after being designated as the primary suspect in the case related to the attack on Jinnah House in Lahore. The incident was triggered following Imran Khan’s arrest in Islamabad on May 9, Geo said.
The report further stated that Hassaan was apprehended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the police.
Subsequently, he was handed over to the Quetta police and later transferred to the military upon the request of the commanding officer.
Hassaan, who also serves as the party chief’s focal person on legal affairs, was initially handed over to Quetta police after being arrested late Sunday night in Abbottabad.

Hassaan’s father, Hafeezullah Khan, confirmed this development through his social media account. However, the specific case for which Hassaan was taken into custody remains undisclosed.
Earlier statements from the police indicated that Hassaan was allegedly involved in the May 9 riots and an attack on sensitive military installations. The police stated, “Niazi is wanted by the Lahore police for his involvement in the attack on Jinnah House (Lahore’s Corps Commander House).”
Hafeezullah Niazi had previously filed a petition for his son’s recovery, demanding his appearance before the court.
During today’s hearing on the petition, Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar Nahang presented the police report to Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed of the high court. Nahang informed the court about Hassaan’s trial in a military court and his handover to the army.
The petitioner’s lawyer also requested a meeting between Hassaan and his parents. In response, the court instructed the law officer to communicate the possible timing of the meeting.
Nahang stated, “I can find out the procedures and rules in this regard, and inform accordingly.” Subsequently, the court granted an adjournment to allow time for clarifying the procedures and rules involved.
