ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been handed over to Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) custody on a three-day physical remand.
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has approved a three-day physical remand for former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on the request of FIA.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was presented before Civil Judge Abbas Shah’s court by the FIA. He was represented by his advocates Sabir Malik and Naveed Raza Mughal.
The FIA prosecutor argued that after resigning from his position as Prime Minister, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas used his diplomatic passport to visit Saudi Arabia, which is not permissible under the law.
The prosecutor stated that although his passport had been canceled, he had not yet returned it, necessitating its recovery. The FIA requested an eight-day remand for this purpose.

In his defense, the lawyer argued that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, as a former Prime Minister, was entitled to use the diplomatic passport and had only used it for a visit to Saudi Arabia. They offered to present the passport in court and contested the need for remand.
The FIA prosecutor countered, claiming that by using the passport, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas had admitted to the offense.
Although the FIA requested an eight-day physical remand, the court approved a three-day remand for Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.
