Miners rescued after grueling 12 hours in Dukki


Five miners are trapped in a severely flooded coal mine in Dukki, Balochistan due to heavy rainfall in the region.

DUKKI: Five miners were finally rescued after a grueling 12 hours. The miners were trapped in a coal mine due to heavy rainfall in Dukki, located in Balochistan on Friday.

The Mine Inspector Saber Kakar announced that all five miners were rescued following half a day’s worth of rescue efforts.

Heavy rainfall has flooded a local coal mine in Dukki late on Thursday that trapped five miners underground. The mine inspector reported that the coal mine was filled with water up to sixty feet. This made any rescue effort really challenging.

Despite efforts for the first five hours, rescuers could not establish contact with the trapped miners as the mine’s depth is recorded at 4,100 feet.

The trapped miners were identified as Rahmatullah son of Noor Muhammad, Mateenullah son of Abdul Ghaffar, Hameedullah son of Noor Muhammad, Salam Khan, and Noor Muhammad.
