Field Marshal meets US leadership, attends CENTCOM ceremony

WASHINGTON: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has concluded an official visit to the United States, holding high-level meetings with political and military leadership, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, the Army Chief attended the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) change of command ceremony in Tampa, where he paid tribute to outgoing CENTCOM chief General Michael Corella on his retirement. Gen Asim Munir also conveyed best wishes to Admiral Brad Cooper on assuming command.

Field Marshal met US Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Keane and extended an invitation for him to visit Pakistan. He also held discussions with defence chiefs of friendly countries.

In meetings with the Pakistani community in the US, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed confidence in the diaspora’s role in contributing to Pakistan’s future.

The ISPR statement said that army chief spoke on the importance of peace and stability in Pakistan during these engagements. Community members in the US warmly welcomed the army chief and reiterated their commitment to Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
