FIR registered for harrasment

ISLAMABAD: Former Chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Board, Rina Saeed, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against villagers for harassing her, whom she has alleged were instigated by the owner of Monal restaurant.

In an exclusive conversation with the Hum English, Rina Saeed claimed that the villagers initially staged protests, followed by the placement of banners accusing her of demolishing the restaurant. She clarified that the demolition was carried out under the orders of the Supreme Court, in collaboration with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and the CDA (Capital Development Authority). Saeed emphasised that the accusations were entirely false and part of a concerted effort to defame her.

According to Saeed, the situation escalated when the villagers’ sent women to her house in an attempt to further harass her and demand food rations. She maintained that these demands were fraudulent, and the villagers had also sent vloggers to record her if she ventured outside, threatening to launch a social media campaign against her.

Faced with continued harassment, Saeed lodged the FIR, as she was being relentlessly targeted despite no longer holding her position as Chairperson of the Wildlife Board.

According to the FIR, which is available with Hum English, it describes a troubling event that took place on March 19, 2025, in which Saeed’s home in Sector F-7, Islamabad, was targeted. According to the police report, the individuals threw stones at her house, damaging the gate and the building. Both men and women were involved in the attack, and they allegedly issued threats to Saeed, stating that they intended to kill her.

In her complaint to the police, Rina Saeed stated that the attack was instigated by individuals who were provoked. She further claimed that they blamed her for the demolition of the Monal restaurant, despite the fact that she had carried out the action as per the Supreme Court’s order while serving as Chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board.

Saeed has urged the police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice. She also had safety concerns and asked for protective response to prevent further harm.

The police have filed the FIR, and an investigation has begun. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that action would follow in accordance with the law against those responsible. This incident stems from the ongoing controversy over the legal efforts of the former chair of the Islamabad Wildlife Board related to the demolition of the restaurant, and the investigation is still ongoing.
