ISLAMABAD: During his farewell address to the nation, Shehbaz Sharif, the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan, emphasized that his government assumed power through constitutional means and is relinquishing it in accordance with constitutional procedures.
Commenting on the appointment of Balochistan Awami Party Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar as the caretaker PM, he extended his congratulations and stated, “He hails from our esteemed province Balochistan, and I am confident that… he will ensure the conduct of free and fair elections across the nation.”
Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the nation and leaders of other political parties for entrusting him with the responsibility of the country’s chief executive.
He also recollected the economic accomplishments of the coalition government while acknowledging that securing a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) wasn’t a matter of pride.

“Had we held elections immediately [after coming to power], we would have made political gains. But the grave situation in the country did not allow us to make political gains,” The departing Prime Minister added.
He termed May 9 incidents as a ‘planned event’ planned by a political party. He also alleged that the PTI led government had harmed the country’s economy and jeopardized national interests by disregarding an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for political advantages.
