“A tragic incident involving the Frontier Constabulary [soldier] in Thor, which was initially a blind case, has been successfully traced by Diamer Police through bravery and professionalism,” the police said in a statement.

“Diamer District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Hameed has praised the entire police operational team for their successful operation and commended their dedication,” the statement added.

Speaking to HUM News English, DPO Abdul Hameed said the arrest was made using technical data, which provided conclusive leads. He revealed that the arrested suspect was an accomplice, while the main suspect had been identified and a search operation was underway.

When asked about the motive behind the killing, Hameed cited robbery of the service weapon and an attempt to spread fear and terror.

Raja Ishfaq Tahir, spokesperson for the Diamer Deputy Commissioner, told HUM News English last week that the incident took place at around 2:30 AM while Gulsher, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan was performing his duty.
