Arshad Nadeem’s journey to Olympic glory

ISLAMABAD: Coming from a humble background Arshad Nadeem has become a beacon of inspiration for millions across Pakistan and beyond.

Born in a small village of Mian Channu, Punjab in 1997, his rise to fame from humble beginnings to becoming an Olympian and Commonwealth Games champion in javelin throw is nothing short of extraordinary.

Bringing home, the first gold medal in the Olympics for the country in 40 years, Arshad Nadeem has been showered with appreciation and rewards from the government as well as private individuals and enterprises, reflecting the nation’s deep appreciation for his contributions to sports

CASH AWARDS AND REWARDS

On behalf of the federal government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a reward of Rs150 million for Arshad Nadeem for his historic win.

Along with the prize money, the government also announced a civil award for Arshad for his record performance in Olympics.

Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif herself arrived at Nadeem’s house in his hometown Mian Channu and presented a cheque of Rs100 million to the javelin thrower.

She also presented the key of a Honda Civic car with the number plate “PAK 92.97” to Nadeem.

Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan announced a separate cash reward of Rs2 million for Arshad

Sindh

Sindh government announced a Rs50 million reward. The announcement was made by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on X (formerly Twitter).

Governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori announced Rs1 million in reward for Arshad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, in his personal capacity, announced a reward of Rs5 million for Arshad.

ARMY CHIEF HOSTS ARSHAD NADEEM

Army Chief also hosted a ceremony to honor the historic achievement of javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the ceremony, General Syed Asim Munir congratulated Arshad Nadeem for winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a single event, highlighting his dedication and perseverance.

The Army Chief said that Arshad Nadeem’s success brought joy to the entire nation and serves as an inspiration for youth across the country.
