Shelley Duvall star of “The Shining” passes away at 75


WEB DESK: Shelley Duvall of “The Shining” fame has passed away at the age of 75 due to complications from diabetes. Her partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed her death, noting her recent health struggles.

Duvall was known for her distinctive roles in movies by Robert Altman and her iconic portrayal in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining,”

The actress was born in Fort Worth, Texas, United States and gained fame with her debut in Altman’s “Brewster McCloud” in 1970. She would go on to star in several movies including “McCabe and Mrs Miller”, “Thieves Like Us” and “Nashville”.

Duvall’s standout performance came in Altman’s “3 Women”, where she won the “Best Actress” award at the Cannes Film Festival.

As a testament to her versatility as an actress, Duvall portrayed Olive Oyl in Altman’s adaptation of “Popeye” in 1980. However, it was her role in Kubrick’s “The Shining” that cemented her in the annals of cinematic history.
