Kim Soohyun fights back against Kim Sea Ron allegations

WEB DESK: South Korean actor Kim Soohyun became the focus of a huge controversy following allegations about a past relationship with the late actress, Kim Sea Ron.

The rumours emerged after a video was posted on the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, featuring Kim Sea Ron’s aunt making serious claims about the nature of their relationship.

In the video, the aunt alleged that Kim Soohyun and Kim Sea ron were involved in a six-year relationship that reportedly began when Kim Sea Ron was just 15 years old. The aunt further claimed that the actor distanced himself from Kim Sea Ron following her DUI incident in 2022, suggesting that this contributed to her financial difficulties and ultimately her tragic death.

In response to these allegations, Gold Medalist, Kim Soohyun;s agency, issued a strong statement categorically denying the claims. The agency described the allegations as “baseless and malicious”, asserting that they were entirely fake.

The statement addressed several specific accusations, including claims that the agency and Kim Soohyun colluded with Youtuber Lee Jin Ho to harass Kim Sea Ron, that Kim Soohyun has been dating her since she were 15, and that the agency’s response to her drunk driving incident was unfair.

Gold Medalist stated that the accusations, along with several other claims against both, the agency and the actor, were unfounded.

The entertainment company expressed their ‘sorrow’ over Kim Sea Ron’s death, stating that “we are deeply heartbroken by the news of the late Kim Sea Ron’s death, as she was once part of our company, and we mourn her passing”.

The agency condemned the dissemination of what it claimed to be false information, stating that it perpetuates the cyber harassment that affected Kim Sea Ron’s during her life. It also called for fans to refrain from spreading or amplifying what it called damaging rumours.

As the controversy continues to unfold, the backlash against Kim Soohyun has intensified, with many netizens calling for boycotts of brands that continue to work with him. The actor is currently the face of several high-profile brands, including luxury fashion, finance and cosmetics.

However, the recent allegations have raised concerns about his public image and its alignment with the values of these brands.
