Dengue surge across Punjab; 184 new cases in 24 hours

LAHORE: The dengue fever outbreak continues to spread across Punjab, with alarming figures indicating a surge in new cases. In the past 24 hours, a staggering 184 new patients have been diagnosed with dengue across the province, according to the Secretary of Health.
This latest update brings the total number of dengue cases reported in Punjab this year to a worrying 6,615, a significant public health concern.
In Lahore, the provincial capital, the situation remains critical, with an additional 71 individuals being diagnosed with dengue in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases in Lahore has now reached 2,624, making it one of the hardest-hit areas.

Rawalpindi is also grappling with a surge in dengue cases, with 37 new diagnoses bringing the total to 1,842. Health officials are working tirelessly to manage the situation and provide adequate care to those affected.
In Multan, 10 new cases have been reported, pushing the total number of dengue patients to 716. The Secretary of Health in Punjab emphasized the need for continued vigilance and preventive measures to curb the outbreak.
The dengue epidemic has also affected several other cities in the province. Gujranwala has reported 37 new cases, eight cases in Faisalabad, six cases in Sheikhupura, and four cases in Sargodha, have been reported according to a spokesperson.
Efforts to raise awareness about dengue prevention, along with rigorous mosquito control measures, are being carried out to combat the escalating health crisis in Punjab. Health officials are urging citizens to take proactive steps to protect themselves and their communities from the dengue virus, such as eliminating standing water and using mosquito repellents.
