ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Asad Ul Haq has made history by becoming the first national to direct a shoot featuring global football star Karim Benzema. The project, filmed in Jeddah, marks a proud moment for Pakistan as it highlights the international recognition of local creative talent.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Haq revealed that Faisal from Stimulus Productions Worldwide contacted him for a shoot in Saudi Arabia. “I obviously said yes,” the filmmaker wrote, explaining that the project took months to coordinate due to the involvement of several international icons, with Benzema being the first to be announced.

Reflecting on the experience, Haq described it as “a privilege to be the first Pakistani to have shot Karim Benzema,” adding humorously that his sister only realised how big the moment was after searching the footballer online.

Expressing gratitude, Haq extended thanks to Benzema, Alican Akgün, Omar Shirkawi, Ali Haejazz, and Ammar U Haq for their support during what he called “two crazy nights of magic.”

With decades of experience and multiple high-profile campaigns to his credit, Asad Ul Haq has long stood at the forefront of Pakistan’s advertising and film industry. His collaboration with the French football icon, he said, represents not only a career milestone but also Pakistan’s growing influence in global film production.

“Still pinching myself to have stood under the shadow of such a huge player… more to come,” Haq concluded.
