Victoria Jones, the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, was facing a charge of public intoxication in the months leading up to her death, according to court records.
Jones was found dead at the Fairmont San Francisco early last week. Dispatch audio later indicated the death was being treated as a suspected overdose.
Court documents show that Jones had been charged in connection with an alleged incident in Santa Cruz on May 14, 2025. She was accused of being in a public place while under the influence of toluene, an inhaled solvent that the National Institutes of Health describes as being used for its euphoric effects.
The case remained active at the time of her death, with a pretrial conference scheduled for January 27.
Jones had also experienced other legal issues in recent years. In April, she was arrested in a separate drug-related incident and was found to be in unlawful possession of cocaine. She was later offered a plea agreement that would have required her to enter sobriety treatment, though she did not live to attend the court hearing.
Following her death, Jones’s family released a brief statement requesting privacy. “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers,” the statement read. “Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”
