SIALKOT: The mother of former PTI leader Usman Dar has accused PML-N leader Khawaja Asif and the police of raiding their residence in Sialkot and physically assaulting her.

Both Asif and the Sialkot police categorically denied the allegations.

Earlier in the day, Usman Dar shared a video of his mother on the social media platform X, urging Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to take notice of the alleged incident.

In the video, she stated, “It is my appeal… that I was asleep at home, and yet again, Khawaja Asif orchestrated an attack on my house,” pointing to a broken door frame. She added that the alleged attackers forcefully entered after attempting to breach the premises.

Detailing the incident, she mentioned the attackers manhandling her, asserting that such tactics would not deter her from submitting her nomination for the upcoming February 8 general elections. “It is my appeal to you [Chief Justice] to take notice of what is happening and ask these people if this is our Pakistan?” she urged, challenging Asif to confront her in the electoral battleground.

Addressing the media, the former PTI leader clarified his withdrawal from politics but emphasized his unwavering support for his mother. He also posted alleged voice recordings of his family during the incident, calling on the chief justice and “powerful quarters” to hold accountable those responsible for the mistreatment.

In response to the allegations, Asif maintained that he never engaged in vindictive politics, consistently approaching political battles with respect for opponents and their families. In a subsequent post, he lamented the compromises he made for a brand of politics that necessitated sacrificing family traditions and upbringing.

Directly addressing Usman in another post, Asif remarked that blame should not be directed at him if the former PTI leader chose not to contest polls.

“It is requested that respectable people should not use a great personality like a mother in their political dramas. Protect their respect and sanctity, don’t use them for cheap politics,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Hasan Iqbal issued a video message, asserting that the police conducted a raid in accordance with legal requirements to apprehend “absconding suspect Umar Dar,” Usman’s brother, who is wanted in five cases.

Dismissing claims of violence and misconduct during the raid, the DPO stated that the police possessed evidence against Umar, alleging his involvement in activities against Pakistan.

“The state has snatched away our right to live in our own country, declared proclaimed offender in fake cases and being treated as terrorists,” Dar had stated in a post.

He had posted a video message of his mother, wherein she appealed to the chief justice to dispense justice to her concerning the state highhandedness committed against her and her family members.

“Are we being punished that my sons were with Imran Khan and used to contest elections on the PTI tickets,” she had asked and made an impassioned appeal to the CJP to dispense justice to her.
