KARACHI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed a ban on import of frozen meat from Pakistan through sea route after the alleged discovery of fungus on meat shipments.

A consignment of meat dispatched by a Karachi-based company via sea transport faced complete destruction at the hands of UAE authorities. In response, a ban on all future imports of frozen meat from Pakistan via maritime routes has been instituted, with the embargo set to remain in place until at least October 10.

It is worth noting that Pakistan, a significant meat exporter, ships frozen meat valued at $12 million per month to the UAE through maritime channels.

Pakistan primarily exports its meat to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.
